MICHELE SMITH ON THE ISSUES
Residents often share with me their frustration that the current Alderman's office delivers City services poorly, inconsistently, reactively and too slowly.
I will establish a customer-service oriented Alderman's office where your concerns are heard and acted upon with speed and competence. My major service initiatives will include:
- Establish an automated service tracking system to ensure all requests to the Alderman's office are monitored (whether made in person, by phone, or via the internet). This will help facilitate timely service delivery and ensure that proactive communication is maintained throughout the resolution process.
- Designate one senior staff member as a dedicated ward services coordinator. This will provide regular oversight of the service tracking system, quality service training for all staff, and issue trouble-shooting within city government agencies when repetitive issues occur.
- Select Aldermanic office staff with professional service experience who are dedicated to and trained in quality service skills.
